'Home Worker and Remote Worker Awards' announced to celebrate 'National Work from Home Day'
London (UK)
Remote Employment News Release
This year's National Work from Home Day (part of Work Wise Week) will take place on Friday 15th May. Paula Wynne, co-founder of Remote Employment and the Remote Worker Awards, is available to give advice and encouragement to the millions of remote workers across the UK and companies considering remote working for their staff.
Work Wise Week promotes smarter working practices, such as flexible, remote and mobile working, and working from home. It aims to give half the working population, some 14 million people, the opportunity to work smarter by 2011.
The week includes Mobile Office Day and Remote Office Day to encourage people to work while on the move and to use remote working instead of travelling to a central office. National Work from Home Day on Friday, May 15 is to persuade people to work from home on that day, instead of commuting to their usual place of work.
To celebrate National Work from Home Day, Remote Employment has launched the The Remote Worker Awards and Home Worker Awards to highlight how remote and home working benefits the environment, business productivity and employees' quality of work life.
Paula Wynne said, "The Remote Worker Awards comes at a time when thousands of people across the UK are faced with job losses or reduced hours. The awards aim to raise awareness of remote and home working as an alternate solution to redundancy and the traditional nine to five office routine. We want to unearth an abundance of inventive pioneers who champion flexibility with remote working solutions."
Everyone who works remotely or works from home, employers who have remote workers, and even anyone who wants to work from home, can enter for the chance to win one of the awards.
Along with a trophy to honour the winners, the Remote Worker Awards will also supply the winner with thousands of pounds worth of prizes to improve remote working. They include computer hardware and business software, PR and marketing advice, a £15,000 home based franchise, a Garden Home Office worth £10,000 and the chance to train or re-train for a brand new career with the Open University Skills Award.
There are nine categories including The 'Remote Employer Award' which will honour companies that demonstrate how remote working and home working has made a beneficial impact on their business, and the 'Home Business Award' which will celebrate the most innovative home based businesses.
The Remote Worker Awards has lined up a prestigious panel of judges with successful businesswoman and serial entrepreneur, Karen Darby, founder of SimplySwitch, leading the way. Jeff Zbar, founder of Chief Home Officer in the United States, has been appointed as a Remote Judge. This is remote judging ... or remote working at its best!
