The Helen O’ Grady
Special Award (after a fantastic response, Helen O’ Grady decided to nominate
two winners) and one of them was Catherine Prout from Warwick, Warwickshire. Catherine won her
very own home based franchise worth £15!
Why She Won
Catherine’s commitment to teaching drama saw her being awarded
the Helen O’Grady Special Award. Her dedication, enthusiasm, confidence
and experience led to the judges awarding a £15k drama-academy
franchise.

Catherine said: "When I won the award it was amazing and totally unexpected! I told everyone I know and they have all been incredibly supportive and also excited too. The whole day was a wonderful experience meeting and talking to Paula which was lovely after all the hard work she put in made me feel like I had won something before the award was announced.
It was also brilliant to chat to Nigel and Margaret from Helen O'Grady about the company, how successful they have been in the UK and to find out more details about the work they have done for children. The whole day filled me with awe for the people who have already made their ideas into businesses and inspired me to make the best of the amazing chance I was awarded by Remote Employment!"
Where Catherine Has Been
Since winning the award she have been given all the necessary instruction from Nigel, Margaret and Alison, the training team for Helen O'Grady to make her business a success.
Abbe, Catherine and runner up Sarah Walton spent a week of training in Bristol, which was filled with seminars on the best ways to give good customer service on the telephone, how to work using the academies exclusive administration system, how to manage time and finances and present the company as professionally as possible. They gave these very lucky girls advice on when, where and how to book the best studio spaces and the best way to advertise the fantastic product we are offering to children.
The part of the training Catherine enjoyed the most was of course looking at the curriculum. Working through a few examples of each of the lessons Helen O'Grady has developed using their thirty years experience made her appreciate how much had work had gone into every step of the lesson plans.
She said: "I have never had such a beneficial week learning and I loved getting to grips with the classroom management techniques and how the lessons are taught in such a fun and productive way. It also allowed all of us, teachers and students to bond in a way which will benefit us all with friendship as well as educationally way into the future. It is fair to say that Alison and Margaret's enthusiasm is totally infectious!"
Where Catherine is Now
After the training, Catherine was assigned a Mentor, Alison, and she told us that Alison's support has been invaluable in setting up her business.
Catherine has been contacting schools, setting up administration, making contacts within the newspapers and ordering publicity material. After booking her six studio spaces she has started to advertise all around her local area.
She wants to share the wonderful benefits in self-development, confidence and social skills that her and her new Helen O' Grady business can provide to her local community.
Catherine said: "My adventure is only beginning and with this amazing start Remote Employment and Helen O'Grady have given me, I cannot wait to launch my business and discover what exciting things the future has in store for me!"
